Luthando Prinsloo
Profile
Luthando's leadership career spans over thirty years after starting out as a naval officer. He transitioned into a corporate and entrepreneurial executive, having served in various countries and sectors and having learnt to speak Spanish and German in addition to his native Afrikaans and English. For the past seven years Luthando functions as a leadership innovator, executive coach, programme designer and facilitator.
His pioneering doctoral work on African fusion leadership integrates alternate academia, ethics, African wisdom, organisational excellence and transforming contexts in response to global organisational challenges. Through his working life Luthando has acted as a mentor to upcoming leaders. This practice has extended into executive coaching drawing on his therapy qualifications and experience.
Experience
Luthando mainly consults to the Corporate and Academic sectors in a practitioner-researcher approach. Within this consulting ambit he originates leadership programmes, and development experiences. Where required he tailor-designs programmes to client requirements and appropriate seniority levels. He is co-author and co-facilitator of the MBA African leadership elective module at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (www.nmmu.ac.za). He holds memberships in the International Leadership Association (www.ila-net.org) and the Comparative and International Education Society (www.cies.us).
Luthando is a co-founder and the Director of the Simunye Institute for Visionary Leadership (www.simunyeinstitute.org). The Institute is vested in a networking model of practitioners, shareholders and strategic partners in South Africa, Africa and internationally. He is also actively involved in developing the Tamhnach Foundation (www.tamhnach.org).
Qualifications
Luthando is currently completing his PhD through the University of Utrecht, the Netherlands. His promoter is Prof D M Hosking and his thesis 'Ukuphatha Excellence - towards a new African fusion leadership philosophy and model'. Before that he received his B.Sc at the University of Stellenbosch and his M.Th at the University of South Africa with his dissertation 'Co-constructing ethical practices in the workplace'. In 2000 Luthando also qualified as Traditional Doctor at the Luvenga Clinic in Swaziland. He is registered with the Council for Counsellors in South Africa.

Luthando is passionate about nature, holistic health, green technology, tall ships, curiosity and joy.
